PARTNER OF THE MONTH
Domestic Violence Resource Center
Since 1977, the Domestic Violence Resource Center (DVRC) has served as a lifeline for survivors of domestic violence in the region, offering not just immediate safety but a pathway to renewed hope and healing. What began as the Committee to Aid Abused Women (CAAW) evolved into a comprehensive resource center where survivors can access life-saving support services. Today, DVRC provides a 24-hour hotline, advocacy and safety planning to ensure that anyone fleeing abuse has a safe, compassionate place to turn. In the past year alone, DVRC supported 4,266 survivors, answered 1,639 crisis calls and assisted with 1,244 temporary protection orders. DVRC’s emergency shelter and transitional housing program housed more than 400 individuals, including children, who are escaping violent situations.
DVRC’s commitment goes beyond crisis intervention and addresses the broader needs that empower survivors as they rebuild their lives. Through trauma-informed counseling, life skills workshops and financial coaching, DVRC helps individuals build a strong foundation for lasting self-sufficiency and stability. Each program is survivor-centered, equipping individuals with essential skills to build resilience, manage finances, secure housing, achieve independence and regain confidence to lead a life free from violence.
